Audrey Press

Audrey Press, age 99, of Fairfield, CT, passed away peacefully on Friday, April 5, 2024 in her assisted living home at Sunrise of Fairfield. She was predeceased by her husband of 39 years, H. Norman Press. Audrey was born on August 27, 1924 in Bridgeport, CT to the late Frank and Alice (Holmes) Anderson. As a member of the 1942 Graduating Class of Bassick High School Audrey Anderson was voted the “Prettiest.” She married her high school sweetheart upon his return from serving two years with the U.S. Army in Europe and they raised three children together. Audrey was a parishioner of Grace Episcopal Church in Trumbull, CT. As a member of the Patterson club for 40 years Audrey enjoyed golfing and bowling and was a devoted member of a ladies’ bridge club. She was an avid reader and world traveler. Survivors include: her daughter, Janice Holland of Old Saybrook, CT; two sons, Craig Press of Naples, FL and Bryan Press and his wife, Edna of Trumbull, CT and Naples, FL; four grandchildren: Michael Press and his wife, Rebecca of Fairfield, Jeffrey Press and his wife Julie of Trumbull, Steven Press of Stratford and Jennifer Holland and her partner Wouter van Steenbergen of Haarlem, The Netherlands. Four great grandchildren include Madelyn and Mia Press and Ryan and Blake Press. Audrey’s greatest joy was to have lived long enough to delight in time spent with her great grandchildren. A private memorial service will be held at Redgate - Hennessy Funeral Home with interment at Lawncroft Cemetery at the convenience of the family. Audrey and her husband passed many enjoyable hours watching birds and, so in lieu of flowers, the family requests a memorial donation be made to The CT Audubon Center of Fairfield 314 Unquowa Road, Fairfield, CT 06824.
